Fine Dining and Balanced Nutrition

As we age, our nutritional needs change. One of the main changes to the way we eat is the simple fact that our metabolism slows down. In effect, our tastes, likes and dislikes may also differ from when we were younger.

Clear Nutrition Information

At Sunrise Senior Living, we prepare all meals in our own kitchens each and every day. The menus are varied and designed to be nutritionally balanced. In fact, we can even provide you with a nutritional breakdown of each recipe that we use, so that you can see exactly how much protein, fat, fibre, calories and so on is contained in the meals we serve.

Good Food, Always Available

Our kitchens provide three meals a day – either in the congenial setting of our restaurant-style dining room or in the comfort of a resident’s personal suite. In addition, snacks and drinks are available 24 hours a day.

In our ‘Reminiscence’ neighbourhood, dedicated to those living with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia, we have special hydration and snack stations, designed to maintain healthy levels of fluid intake and nutrition.

Special Diets

Sunrise’s dining team can create specialised meals to meet the specific nutritional requirements of residents who have special dietary needs such as diabetics or those living with high cholesterol. For residents living with dysphagia – a condition which makes it hard to swallow – we prepare meals, pureed foods and smoothies that are not only easier to swallow, but also look appealing to eat.

Introduction to Fine Dining

Our residents deserve the best and we ensure that they receive it from a wide variety of high quality suppliers. We are incredibly proud of our partnership with Donald Russell, a gourmet butcher and meat supplier. Below you can see exactly what this means for our residents and the fine dining experience at Sunrise.

No meat is more tender or delicious than that from Donald Russell, Royal Warrant holder and Britain's leading mail order meat supplier. Based in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, they use only time honoured methods to guarantee the best you'll ever taste.

The range Donald Russell specialise in includes all the traditional cuts, naturally reared beef, pork and lamb, which can be found alongside some more contemporary classics like the range of gourmet seafood, game and veal.

“Donald Russell are a long established business supplying Michelin stared hotels and restaurants in the UK and around the world. We were delighted to form a partnership with Sunrise Senior Living over two and a half years ago to supply all the communities. Our businesses share a passion for quality and service and believe that excellence is very much achievable.” (Robert McFarlane - Director of Sales and Business Development)

The History of Donald Russell:

“Donald Russell opened its doors to trade customers in 1974. In its early years, Donald Russell supplied gourmet meats to a growing number of highly reputed restaurants and hotels in the UK and worldwide, from Kensington Place and Simpson's-in-the-Strand to the Raffles Hotel in Singapore and The Grand Hotel, Monte Carlo.“

Access to our homes: latest information

We continue to monitor the situation on a daily basis, following public health advice. We've a detailed set of criteria to inform when an individual home can be reopened safely to limited visiting either by families of existing residents or by potential new residents who may want to view one of our homes. The majority of our homes are open for admissions.

As part of our approach to reopening for visitors, we'll be operating in a very different way. To minimise the risk of infection we've produced a safety guide. We'll continue to follow public health advice to determine when visits will return to normal and will continue to do our best to support residents to keep in touch with loved ones.
