Dementia Care

Dementia Care

Every Sunrise community features a specialised dementia care area that is devoted entirely to residents living with Alzheimer’s, dementia or other forms of memory loss. We call it our ‘Reminiscence’ (memory care) Neighbourhood.

It’s the same high quality, individualised care that you’ll find in the assisted living neighbourhoods of our care homes – but with a specialised focus on caring for residents living with with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia.

Dedicated, Trained Staff

Our care homes feature dedicated, compassionate, caring team members who are trained in helping our residents and their family members to live with both the good and bad days that go hand-in-hand with memory loss.

We know that memory loss affects every resident differently. Our dementia care team is trained to value each individual and to recognise their individual preferences and needs. We focus on understanding each resident in order to provide person-centered care, comfort and security in a familiar environment.

Benefit from Our Experience

At Sunrise, we recognise that families and friends wish to be involved with the care of their loved one. Our support groups work hand in hand with you to offer education, guidance, advice, and information. We fully understand the emotional turmoil, the worries and the challenges that a dementia diagnosis can bring. So, we’re more than happy to share our experience and our insights with you.

A Place for Living

Our Reminiscence (Memory Care) Neighbourhood, just like the rest of our care home, is designed to provide comfort, security, and life enrichment in a warm and inviting environment.

It’s a safe, reassuring, and relaxing place, where residents take part in everything from sing-a-longs, to discussion groups or listening to music. It’s also a place where family members can feel comfortable visiting their loved ones.

Life Enrichment & Activities

Life enrichment is core to the quality of life delivered through our activities programme. We recognise the importance of cognitive stimulation and provide a range of activities from facilitated brain training sessions to creative projects that help improve our residents' sense of wellbeing.

Every activity that we plan is designed for adults and promotes a feeling of success and purpose by taking part. Researchers believe that Music therapy helps boost brain activity and is an essential part of the day.
