One of the reasons why every Sunrise home is much more than just a care home is the team of people working there. Every hour of every day, Sunrise team members are working to make sure that our residents enjoy life as fully as possible. Here are just a few of the people you’ll find at your local Sunrise care home.
I have worked in care since 2003, starting as a registered manager for a domiciliary care agency, then the registered manager at a family owned dementia care home. Both roles gave me a solid care background and a passion for ensuring that the best care is delivered to our seniors. I have now worked at Sunrise of Winchester since 2012, starting as the Reminiscence Co-ordinator which I found very satisfying, and since September 2016 as the Deputy Manager. I thoroughly enjoy working with our residents, their families, and the entire care team to continually develop and improve on the excellent service we already provide.
My name is Karolina Moniz, I am Polish, I live in Southampton with my husband and lovely 2 years old son. Finished my Master degree of Nursing at the University of Wroclaw, Poland in 2012 and since then I have passionately pursued my love for health care and the wellbeing of others as a Nurse, worked at Wroclaw Hospital on the Neurology Department and later in United Kingdom at different care homes, on 2018 I finished my course on management and in June 2018 I joined Sunrise of Bassett , all this experience allowed me to provide the highest level of service, which proves my strong commitment to perform my responsibilities in professional and effective manner. I also like to work in a team, where it feels like a family, and this is what I found at Sunrise and now at the start of 2019 I have been offered the fantastic opportunity to work as a Deputy Manager for Sunrise of Winchester. This position allowed me to develop my skills and prove that hard work can benefit in the future.
I have been working in care since 2006 and joined Sunrise of Winchester in 2011. I became the Reminiscence Coordinator in 2016 which is a new and exciting experience for me, about which I feel really passionate. I am really proud to work at Sunrise and feel that I can make a difference in the everyday lives of the residents to make each day meaningful. The community is a wonderful place to work, and I get such joy from seeing our residents settle in and feel that they are at home. Working with a great team allows us to do the best for our residents and their families.
I have been an Activities Co-ordinator for many years. I feel privileged to perform this role in our community, to have time to spend time with our residents in groups but also one to one, listening to their life stories and generally enjoying special moments with them.
I truly believe I have the best job in the community. It is a fulfilling and rewarding role and I enjoy it immensely. I have a strong activities team that help deliver a wide variety of activities. Sunrise of Winchester is a very special community.
My name is Edyta. I graduated from Southampton University as a mental health nurse 7 years ago. Since then I have been working in Sunrise in Reminiscence department. I had an opportunity to take the position as Assisted Living Coordinator which I enjoy very much. I am interested in sport and I participate every year in Race for Life. My passions are mental health nursing and medicine management. I would like to develop my skills and future career in Sunrise.
I joined Sunrise of Winchester in July 2017 and I feel blessed to be part of this very special community. My main role is to offer support and advice to families who are considering bringing a loved one into our community and I take great pride in helping prospective residents learn about how we can make a positive change to their quality of life. It makes me smile to see the difference in our residents when they come to Sunrise of Winchester and there is no greater reward for me than making people happy.
I joined Sunrise in 2016 after serving in the Army and working in local government. The main thrust of my work is in assisting the Director of Community Relations in her work with prospective residents, but also get involved in many other aspects of work in the Community. I love talking with our residents and hearing their life memories – as much as I believe that I have had a varied, interesting and fascinating life to date, it does not compare with those of our residents, of whom I am in awe.
I joined Sunrise of Winchester in May 2017 as Concierge and a few months later moved to the role of Business Office Coordinator, a job that I thoroughly enjoy. My dog Toffee accompanies me to work every day and can often be seen around the community entertaining residents and staff alike. I love the sense of family that we have here at Winchester, which makes coming to work every day something to look forward to. I tend to frequent the Bistro area at 3pm each day to 'test' the social afternoon cakes!
Championing the quality of life for all seniors - it’s the mission and responsibility of every Sunrise team member. To achieve that, we invest in our care team. New team members complete a comprehensive Sunrise training curriculum focused on the care and wellbeing of our residents.
We continue to monitor the situation on a daily basis, following public health advice. We've a detailed set of criteria to inform when an individual home can be reopened safely to limited visiting either by families of existing residents or by potential new residents who may want to view one of our homes. The majority of our homes are open for admissions.
As part of our approach to reopening for visitors, we'll be operating in a very different way. To minimise the risk of infection we've produced a safety guide.
We'll continue to follow public health advice to determine when visits will return to normal and will continue to do our best to support residents to keep in touch with loved ones.
