What activities are available at the home?
At Sunrise of Winchester, we think it is crucial that our residents stay active, nurture interests, learn new skills and pursue favourite hobbies. As a result, every one of our homes has a dedicated Activities Coordinator who plans regular events and entertainment. Examples of activities can include: physical light exercise, sensory musical performances or cognitive activities like art, gardening and baking. Staff and visitors in Reminiscence are encouraged to explore our wide range of Active Minds products with residents to enhance the person centred approach to activities. We also have an Omi Vista table (Magic Table), a fantastic interactive tool to enhance stimulation. Residents are also encouraged to run their own clubs with assistance from the activities team when required.
We have a strong relationship with many of the local schools, colleges, university, choirs and churches in and around Winchester. In term time, groups of students will sing and play instruments, help with crafts, baking, quizzes and chat with the residents on a weekly basis.
Sunrise of Winchester is also lucky enough to have its own private minibus which residents use to go on organised day trips to the cinema, theatre, museums etc.
