Sunrise of Elstree

Meet Our Team

One of the reasons why every Sunrise home is much more than just a care home is the team of people working there. Every hour of every day, Sunrise team members are working to make sure that our residents enjoy life as fully as possible. Here are just a few of the people you’ll find at your local Sunrise care home.

Debbie Armstrong, General Manager

Chorleywood - Debbie Armstrong

I first started working in elderly care in 1986 and have evolved and grown within the sector because of the genuine passion I have to care for the wonder that is our elderly generation. They deserve nothing but the best and as General Manager at Sunrise it is my responsibility to provide strong and focused leadership to ensure the highest standards of care are delivered. I have a strong, experienced and enthusiastic management team who support me to promote good education, guidance and enthusiasm to all team members working within the community. It is my responsibility to ensure that the community remains compliant, effective, treats our residents with respect and dignity and most of all makes Sunrise of Elstree a happy place to live and work.

Luciana Dobos, Deputy Manager

Elstree - Luciana Dobos

I joined Sunrise of Elstree in April 2012 and this was by far the best decision I ever made. The joy of meeting new families, making a positive contribution to the lives of each and every one of our residents is truly rewarding. The Reminiscence Neighbourhood is lively, full of music and dance! Each resident is special and unique to all of us and we strive to ensure our residents’ lives are fulfilled to the best of their abilities. I have the honour of leading a fabulous and compassionate team of carers with a combined experience of over 40 years. The care, kindness and support extends to their families and friends, whom we have the privilege of supporting. I feel very passionate about being part the Sunrise family, bringing so much joy and happiness to our resident’s lives and I am proud that we are able to make such a difference in crucial moments of an individual’s journey.

Marilyn Bartholomew, Activities Co-ordinator

Elstree - Marilyn Bartholomew

Having trained as a Nurse in the early 80’s and working for the NHS for over 10 years, I took a career break and accepted a job as a Publican which was great fun! My new role took me on a completely different career path and I joined Sunrise as an Activities Assistant 5 years ago and have recently progressed to Activities Co-ordinator. I love my job, learning about our residents' interesting lives, the hobbies and interests they once had and want to revive. I enjoy the challenge of rekindling their memories to unlock golden moments in their past.

It means a lot to me that we can provide our residents with meaningful activities that bring enjoyment and stimulation whilst enabling them to continue to live with a purpose every day.

Kate Lester, Care Co-ordinator

Kate LesterMy first experience of caring for someone was when I was 10 years old and I supported my mum to look after my Nan. I went on to graduate from the University of Birmingham with a BSc (Hons) Human Biology. I started working for Sunrise in 2010 in Edgbaston, Birmingham and worked in their Reminiscence neighbourhood. I have since completed a Dementia Mapping Course through the University of Bradford and I am in my final year of studying an MSc Dementia Studies. My new role here at Sunrise of Elstree will be to oversee the care in both Assisted Living and Reminiscence neighbourhoods. I will be helping and supporting wonderful teams to ensure that the residents are receiving the care and support that they deserve. I am passionate about delivering high quality person-centred care to our residents. I believe it is a wonderful privilege and I find it hugely rewarding.

Kamchan Khattri, Business Office Co-ordinator

KanchanI have been working in a care setting for 20years and it's been the best choice I made. I had the privilege to grow up with my grandparents around me and cared for my mother therefore to me the elderly will always be my family and as such it felt special walking into Sunrise of Elstree eighteen months ago. My role as BOC is central to all other departments ensuring the administration function continues to flow smoothly. I am committed to helping the dedicated team, residents and families giving my best at all times. It is always a pleasure when a resident knocks on my door with a query or stops for a chat in the corridor, I enjoy listening to them, I respect them and am always happy to help and bring a smile.

Mircea Pasca, Maintenance Co-ordinator

Mircea PascaI am really pleased and honoured to have joined the elite team of Sunrise of Elstree as a Maintenance Coordinator- a year ago, a team which really listens and gets involved in day by day life. During my career of over 15 years in care system, I gained a vast experience and knowledge, I am happy to apply my DIY skills in a place which I consider not just my second home, but, my second safe and comfortable one for me and everybody that lives and visit our community.

Interacting with residents, having a laugh, a discussion, it really does make a difference in our and their life. Every day is different, every day makes my day. Home is where the heart and my toolbox is.
