Sunrise of Eastbourne

Meet Our Team

One of the reasons why every Sunrise is much more than just a care home is the team of people working there. Every hour of every day, Sunrise team members are working to make sure that our residents enjoy life as fully as possible. Here are just a few of the people you’ll find at your local Sunrise care home.

Fiona White,  General Manager

Fiona Whitte - Eastbourne

I joined the team in January 2015 as Deputy Manager and CQC Registered Manager, having worked in the healthcare industry since 2000 both in the public and independent sectors. As a qualified nurse I am extremely passionate about delivering exceptional person-centred care to our seniors and ensuring the highest standards of care are met and that our residents have the opportunity to live life to the full.

In July 2016, I was very proud to become the General Manager of Sunrise of Eastbourne and thoroughly enjoy working with our residents, their families and the entire care team at Sunrise of Eastbourne.

Julie Wills,  Deputy Manager

Julie I have been a trained nurse for over 30 years and have had many varied roles. I have worked with ex-servicemen with spinal injuries and trained staff at the local hospital in safe manual handling, I was a Regulation Manager for CQC for 5 years and have run my own business. I joined Sunrise Senior Living as a part time wellness nurse in September 2015 and took over the role of Reminiscence Coordinator in February 2016 and in September 2016 I was appointed as the Deputy Manager.
Sunrise Senior Living is a lovely place to work with the residents at the heart of everything we do. Our aim is to make living in a care environment as comfortable and rewarding as it can be for each of our residents to enrich their lives and support them and their families.

Nancy Ivison,  Reminiscence Co-ordinator

NancyI joined Sunrise in 2016 as Reminiscence Co-ordinator. Initially hailing from a legal background I retrained as a Registered Nurse to pursue a more rewarding career. Working within the NHS specialising in elderly medical care, my role as Dementia Link Nurse allowed me to make the Hospital environment a positive experience for Patients living with Dementia as well as providing support and guidance for their families. It has been a great privilege to lead such an amazing team in the Reminiscence neighbourhood who are dedicated to providing exemplary person centred care in a unique, stimulating and safe environment full of fun, support and warmth. The Reminiscence Neighbourhood is a special place, our Residents are truly inspirational and make everyday a joy. I am proud to be part of a passionate team who endeavour every day to be leading the way as a centre of excellence in Dementia care. At Sunrise of Eastbourne the sun is always shining...

Tom Niedzialkowski, Activities & Volunteers Co-ordinator

At Sunrise we all feel like we are part of one family, focusing on heartfelt care and a genuine passion for seniors. Our activities calendar is carefully planned to ensure each resident has an opportunity to take part in a variety of meaningful activities that enrich the mind, body and spirit. As a team we help our residents to embrace each day to ensure it is filled with purpose and laughter. Every month we put on themed events that bring our residents together with their friends and families. I joined Sunrise in January 2013 and every day is still filled with happy daily surprises.

Romanita Nita, Assisted Living Co-ordinator

I have been a nurse for 20 years and before I left Romania I was the Occupational Health Nurse for a Petroleum/Chemical Company. In 2010 I came to the UK and joined Sunrise in 2012 as a Bank Nurse. I was so impressed with the beautiful environment, the calm and welcoming atmosphere and the Sunrise ethos of care that I joined the company as a full time Wellness Nurse. In 2015 I stepped up for six months into the Assisted Living Coordinator role before being appointed permanently.

I enjoy leading a team of dedicated nurses and care assistants who want to ensure our residents lives are fulfilled to the best of their abilities by delivering bespoke care. No two days are the same and I enjoy caring for our seniors and seeing them flourish. It is so rewarding when new residents arrive and I watch them make friends and start enjoying the many activities on offer and the fabulous food as they become part of our Sunrise family.

Sandy Hamblyn, Director of Community Relations

I joined Sunrise in May 2009, as the Business Office Co-ordinator, and in 2013 I transferred to a new role as a Director of Community Relations.

My new role enables me to meet and greet new residents and their families and get much more involved in events for residents within the Eastbourne community and to get to know residents before they move in.

I love my new role and have discovered already that every day is different!

Emma Vieira, Director of Community Relations

I joined the Sunrise team in September 2013 as the Community Relations Associate, and in August 2014 transferred to my new role as a Director of Community Relations.

I have an extremely rewarding role in guiding and supporting families through what can be a distressing time in choosing somewhere for their loved one.

I get great pleasure in seeing how people thrive once they are settled in our beautiful community.

Dean Haffenden, Dining Services Co-ordinator
