Sunrise of Fleet Chef Gerado’s Success at Master Chef Competition

Sunrise of Fleet is delighted to celebrate the achievements of chef Gerado Buonomo at the semi-final of the 2019 Master Chef Competition.

The competition, which is open to all Sunrise Senior Living UK and Gracewell Healthcare team members, challenges entrants to prepare a delicious main course and dessert with a budget of just £5.00. The winner will represent the UK in Denver, Colorado, USA at Sunrise and Gracewell’s Leadership Conference in Spring 2020, whilst all finalists will have their dishes featured as ‘Signature Dishes’ on the Sunrise and Gracewell Spring Menu Cycle.

Gerado’s talents saw him get through to the semi-final after a successful run throughout the contest and regional heats. Whilst he sadly didn’t make the final four, his hard work was very well received by the judges and make everyone at Sunrise of Fleet very proud.

He entered two tasty dishes into this year’s final: pea and pancetta pearl barley risotto for the main course and a pear and ricotta cake for dessert.

Gerado has been feeding residents at Sunrise of Fleet for nearly a year now. He comes from a culinary background in hotels and restaurants and worked in a private hospital before joining Sunrise. In his daily role, he is passionate about making the residents happy with his over 30 years’ experience of the culinary arts.

“We are all so proud of Gerado for representing Sunrise of Fleet so brilliantly. Over the past year, we’ve come to love his delicious and nutritious meals and are thrilled to see him share his talents with the rest of the Sunrise and Gracewell community.

“Gerado will now continue pursuing his craft of providing our residents with the very best tasting foods and try again next year, where we hope to go that tiny step further!”
