Sunrise of Eastbourne: Making Fellowship and Communion Accessible for Residents Again
Local care home, Sunrise of Eastbourne, has recently launched a weekly Fellowship and Communion Service for residents.
The idea came from Sunrise of Eastbourne carer, Jayne Stevenson, who runs the gatherings, for those who may be unable to access regular services.
Jayne said: “Many residents used to attend church regularly but are no longer able to do so. We wanted to recreate those memories and make Fellowship and Communion accessible once again.”
The service lasts half an hour and consists of a Bible reading, shared communion and prayers along with music.
Jayne added: “We keep the message very positive and encouraging through readings. Many residents have joined and really look forward to the gatherings – they are a real source of comfort for many.”
