Sunrise of Solihull Resident Turns 105
Sunrise of Solihull, on Worcester Way, was delighted to help resident Jack Roberts celebrate his very special 105th birthday on 20th November.
The community, which provides personalised dementia care and assisted living services, put together a celebration with a beautiful birthday cake, balloons and a champagne toast with all the team singing Happy Birthday to Jack.
Jack was also thrilled to receive a birthday card from the Queen.
Jack moved to Sunrise of Solihull with his wife Iris in July of this year. Before their move, they lived in Earlswood, Shirley, and Kings Heath, Birmingham, and Jack once enjoyed a career in the car industry. The pair have been happily married for 73 years and have a daughter, Jean, who lives in Spain with her family but visits often.
Jack and Iris have always been active, which is sure to have played a part in Jack reaching such a grand age. They enjoyed horse riding in their youth, followed by rollerblading and ice-skating for many years, with Jack even becoming an ice-skating judge. The two of them played golf and did a lot of walking, and both are even accomplished ballroom and Latin American dancers.
When asked for their top tips for living to 100, Jack and Iris couldn’t pinpoint any one thing but did agree on “a good wife and a good family!”
