NACC Care Chef 2020 Finalist: Sunrise of Chorleywood’s Chef, Nellie Dhliwayo

Nellie Dhliwayo joined Sunrise of Chorleywood in March 2016. She is one of the home’s senior chefs.

Part of Nellie’s role involves ordering food and utensils, stock taking, cooking delicious meals and attending resident meetings. She also ensures that all the dehydration stations are fully equipped and that all residents’ requirements are met.

Amongst many things, she is known for her amazing buffet on a Sunday and her creative salad bar on Wednesdays.

According to colleagues, residents and their families, Nellie is a very talented Chef and this was one of the reasons she was put forward for the National Association of Care Caterers (NACC)’s Care Chef competition. The entire team are proud of Nellie for being shortlisted.

Tracy Moore, Director of Community Relations at Sunrise of Chorleywood, said:

“Nellie is always happy to help and will go that extra mile with exceptional food, when events are being held to cater. She is always in the dining area after each mealtime or event, checking in with residents and asking for feedback. Nellie listens to residents and always looks to implement changes as and when required.

“Residents love fish, so when Nellie cooks fish for them, she puts all her love into making the dish. They also love a good Sunday roast, so this is another favourite of Nellie’s to rustle up for residents.”

Nellie adores looking after older people by giving them scrumptious, nutritious meals every single day.
