Sunrise of Mobberley Hosts Special Royal Wedding Party

Residents and team members at Sunrise of Mobberley rejoiced at a special royal wedding celebration party on Saturday, packed with colourful decorations and costumes, delicious food, and live jazz.

Residents were able to enjoy the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markel on televisions throughout the community, alongside delicious canapes and champagne, and a mouth-watering lemon and elderflower cake enjoyed by guests at the wedding.

While eating their lunch, residents sat in a special Royal Wedding Seating Plan to bring back memories of street parties from years gone by. Nostalgia was also inspired by decorations including a Union Jack flagpole, colourful bunting and flags, and beautiful flowers honouring the floral design at St. George’s Chapel.

The flower arrangement featured white garden roses, foxgloves, peonies, and lilies, and was put together by a resident at Sunrise of Mobberley who used to be a personal flower arranger for the Royal Family.

All residents and team members added colour through their wide variety of costumes, featuring wedding hats and fascinators, and corsages. One resident wore the same dress that she wore at her own post-wedding reception.

The celebrations ended with a live performance from singer Geoff Sax, who performed some 1950s and 1960s classics.

The special party is one example of the active, dynamic living environment that Sunrise of Mobberley fosters for its residents, featuring a diverse range of activities and events that enable residents to socialise with one another, and express talents and interests.

Sunrise of Mobberley offers high-quality care to all residents, focused on a range of individual needs, including nursing care, dementia care, and assisted living.

Dawn Williams, Director of Community Relations at Sunrise of Mobberley, said:

“Our Royal Wedding party was great fun for everyone involved, giving residents the chance to enjoy delicious food, great live music, and dress up for the occasion.

“It really was special to have our flower arrangement put together by a former florist for the Royal Family, and to see so many residents embracing the celebrations and sharing memories from past street parties and wedding days.

“Hosting events such as this is a core part of our mission to foster a vibrant, dynamic community for residents – and we look forward to enjoying many more in future.”
