Sunrise of Fleet residents enjoy BBQ and summer jazz!
Residents of Sunrise of Fleet have been enjoying the sunshine at their annual community Summer BBQ with plenty of Pimm’s and a performance from 7-piece jazz band Grandpa Spells.
A new marquee was erected for the occasion and following an early downpour there were fears residents, their families and friends would be spending most of the day underneath it. Thankfully, these fears were unfounded and as the sun appeared the community were able to enjoy Pimm’s and cocktails whilst getting to know each other. There was a varied menu on offer with brisket, burgers, vegetable skewers or salmon, followed by lime and elderflower cheesecake, chocolate coconut tart or ice cream.
The BBQ was followed by the main event – a visit from jazz band Grandpa Spells. They played a string of classics and had the community dancing in the sunshine. The event was a huge success with residents and their families alike praising the food, drinks and music.
Lucy Jesse, Director of Community Relations at Sunrise of Fleet, said:
“This event is one of my favourite in Sunrise of Fleet’s calendar – it’s a great way for residents, their families, as well as members of the community to come and socialise together.
“We have had some brilliant feedback on what a cheerful day it was. My personal highlight was the performance by Grandpa Spells – there is nothing like a bit of summer jazz to get our residents moving.”
