Residents at Sunrise of Banstead were joined by two three-year-old Shetland ponies, called Blossom and Dotty, from Kingswood in Surrey.

There was not a long face in sight at the community, as they trotted around and everyone enjoyed patting them.

A particular highlight was when the ponies met with two of the 103 year old residents, Henriette Frampton and Ernest Budden.

Blossom and Dotty visited for an hour and were dressed in Santa outfits. Both of them went to all the residents’ rooms too!

Tamara Juckes, Activities and Volunteers Coordinator at Sunrise of Banstead said:

“Both little ponies were so popular amongst the residents. They loved meeting them, and to see it trigger memories in residents living with Alzheimer’s was truly heart-warming. Moments like that are what Sunrise is all about. It was especially amazing for those who don’t tend to leave their rooms, and everyone got to meet them.

“A huge thank you to the owners Sarah and Denise for bringing them along. It was a great day.”
