Whether they occur at home or in retirement villages, falls can have a substantial impact on the health of adults 65 and older. According to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, approximately one-third of older people have experienced a fall in the last year. Not only can they result in serious injury, but falls can also have a significant psychological impact. Now, new research from the University of Colorado Medical Center in the United States finds that falls in the six months before their surgery could predict whether patients have a successful recovery.
