One resident at Sunrise of Hale Barns, a luxury care home, has celebrated reaching the remarkable milestone of turning 106-years-old.
Hilda Waterhouse marked the big occasion with an afternoon of tea, cake, and a video call with her family.
She was also fortunate to receive yet another card from The Queen, commemorating Hilda’s fantastic achievement.
Hilda was born in Altrincham in 1915 and went on to marry an Engineering Director in 1939 before moving to Sale. Hilda cared for her family as a housewife and also enjoyed her hobbies of reading, embroidery, listening to music and cooking.
Celebrating her mother’s achievement, Beryl, Hilda’s daughter, said:
“My mother’s generation showed determination and resilience. She devoted her life to looking after her husband, Charles, my sister, Judith, and myself. Now in her later years, she has been looked after and well cared for by team members at Sunrise of Hale Barns.”
Speaking of her remarkable birthday, Natalie Gribben, Reminiscence Coordinator at Sunrise of Hale Barns, said:
“Hilda is a remarkable lady and even at 106 remains full of life with a sparky personality, she really looks incredible for a lady of 106 years of age, we thoroughly enjoy having Hilda living with us here at Sunrise of Hale Barns”
