Mothers instinctively know about caring for others. It is a habit that they never lose and is one of the things that makes them so special.
At Sunrise we understand what caring is, just like mum does. So we are throwing open our doors on the Saturday before Mother’s Day with a special Open House Event to show you exactly what we mean, and to give mums a chance to enjoy being cared for and pampered - for a change!
Apart from a number of special surprises, pampering treats and fun for mums, there will also be tours, refreshments and key staff on hand to answer questions. Contact your local Sunrise today to find out what is planned for the day and to let us know you are coming. We’ll do the rest.

2009 - A Bumper Year For Awards
As the year draws to a close, what better time to reflect on just one of the many successes Sunrise Senior Living experienced throughout the year – that of winning awards.
2009 was another outstanding year in terms of industry recognition for our hard work, commitment and professionalism in providing seniors with simply the best standards of care available. Of the host of awards picked up during the year, the highlights included….
- 'Best Retirement Community in the West Midlands' for our residence at Knowle, near Solihull, and 'Best Retirement Community in the Surrey' for our Sunrise community in Bagshot, Sussex. Both of these state-of-the-art, purpose-build residences opened earlier this year. These highly sough-after architectural awards were bestowed upon Sunrise by the reputable Daily Mail UK Residential Property Awards Panel for our ability to design and build thoughtful and considerate care residences employing some of the latest thinking on care home design, meeting the extra needs of the elderly, including facilities for independent living, dementia care and assisted living.
- 'Best Retirement Living' accolade from What House Awards, in recognition for our outstanding new development at Sonning, Berks.. Selected from a field of highly regarded retirement communities throughout the country, Sunrise of Sonning was considered to be a future "model for care homes, both private and state run, throughout the UK." Thought to posses a high level of care with a good staff to residents ratio, the judging panel, comprising of some of the country’s leading architects, journalists and housing consultancies, noted that this Sunrise development offered a “consistent and soothing design”.
- From an entrance field of 3,000 care homes, our community in Chorleywood managed to lead the field and pickup the prestigious 'Pet Friendly Care Home Of The Year' Award – 2009', due to their enlightened approach to the therapeutic benefits of having pets within the community. It was considered that Sunrise “was full of happy animals and owners, with exceptional facilities and multi-care facilities” and that “the principles of care for the residents provided dignity, individuality, compassion and flexibility and the standard of care and understanding about the animals’ needs was due to a knowledgeable and highly professional management and staff team.”
From the “consistent and soothing” design of our residences, and our “knowledgeable and highly professional management and staff”, to our focus on wellness and policy of pet-friendliness, Sunrise Senior Living has really been able to set the standard in 2009, providing award-winning care, facilities and unparalleled environments for all our residents in our 27 senior living communities.
