What does this mean for our residents?
Sunrise
of Knowle will remain the same comfortable, homelike and enjoyable
place to live, but now we are extending our care services so that
additional nursing will be available 24 hours a day. It means that
residents and families have the reassurance of knowing that if nursing
care is required later, Sunrise can provide it.
The new

in caring. We have been participating in rigorous training to ensure
that all residents receive the best assistance and care possible. But
the really good news…As a result of our new registration it means that
residents assessed to receive nursing care will be eligible for NHS
Funded Nursing Care contributions. This is an amount of £108.70 per
week paid as a contribution towards your weekly fees.
Talk to us soon about the process to get an assessment made and we'll help to make it happen.

Singing Therapy To Help Memory Loss At Sunrise
Taking place on the first Saturday of every month from,11am - 12pm.
Sunrise Senior Living believes that their approach to residential care for dementia sufferers, Reminiscence, is a more positive approach to the challenges of memory loss and dementia. In keeping with this, Sunrise of Knowle has launched a new programme, “Singing to Reminisce”.
Led by Honor Keatley and Libby Service, the sessions will encourage residents, friends, family members and local Alzheimer’s groups to join in with songs from their lives. There will be seven elements to the sessions including:
1. Exercises - warm up,
2. Cognition - singing rounds, repetition, songs with actions, using props, songs with different tempos, responding to instructions and singing from memory.
3. Engagement - eye contact, hand contact throughout songs.
4. Confidence - enabling participants.
5. Relationships - developing new friendships and a sense of belonging. 6. Ensuring equality - everyone can bring something to our group even if it is simply by being there.
7. Empowerment – a job for everyone. Some participants may want to help set up, play and instrument, lead a group, come up with new songs/ideas.
Honor Keatley from Sunrise Knowle said 'The whole idea is to get people together to enjoy the experience and have some fun'. For details on our next event, contact our community today.

Sunrise of Knowle Picks Up National Design Award
At a glittering awards ceremony held in March this year at the Lords Cricket Ground, over 600 guests attended the prestigious Pinders Healthcare Design Awards, the premier design awards in the Healthcare Sector, with a single aim - to recognise and reward only the very best care-related developments.
Of the award categories, the most highly sought-after honour of the evening was undoubtedly the ‘Best New Care Home of 2010”, which was awarded to our residence here at Knowle.
Eagerly contested and highly prized, the honour is only bestowed upon the most remarkable of care developments, able to demonstrate superior design considerations and attention to intelligent detail; addressing seniors care needs and challenges.
The judging panel, on visiting our residence, noted the thoughtful design of the building, and the homely atmosphere that has been created by the team in that community. In particular, it was considered the Knowle care residence possessed an “established appearance, and sense of belonging, thanks to the extensive sensory gardens and inclusion of gables, bays and creative variations if roof lines.” The criteria against which the residence was judged included aesthetic appeal, resident and staff well-being, mobility and access, environmental considerations, meeting market needs, and innovation.
For further information on this prestigious accolade in recognition of our commitment to providing unparalleled levels of care to the seniors of Knowle and the surrounding area, or indeed to view for yourself this beautiful home-like, purpose built residence, call us today.
