Dementia Care Week. Come and Join Us and Increase Your Awareness
Sunday 5th - Saturday 11th July 2009.
The UK's aging population is resulting in increasing cases of dementia.
More and more adults are finding themselves in some way affected by its
challenges. We want to make this a special week by sharing our
experiences with others and to raise money for other organisations
committed to helping seniors with memory loss. To follow are some of
the events we are holding to raise awareness and much needed funds.
Monday 6th July, 10:00am-12:00pm. Professional Open Morning. If you have a professional interest in senior care and/or dementia care then join us at this open event. There will be tours of our facilities, refreshments and the opportunity to ask questions of our specialist care team.
Tuesday 7th July, 10:00am-11:30am. Dealing With Memory Loss. For more than 25 years, Sunrise has tended to the care needs of seniors with memory loss. This has taught us valuable lessons, many of which we would like to share with you at this informative talk with Richard Williams.
Thursday 9th July, 3:00pm-5:00pm. Afternoon Tea. This is your chance to join us and help do your bit for the fight against dementia. We will all be having fun and enjoying tea (or coffee if you prefer). All donations for this excellent refreshment will go to the Alzheimer’s Society.
Friday 10th July, 2:30pm. Strawberries & Tea. Join us for Strawberries and tea with entertainment for family and friends of Sunrise of Cardiff.

Sunrise of Cardiff is now able to offer Nursing Care!
What does this mean for our residents?
Sunrise of Cardiff will remain the same comfortable, homelike and enjoyable place to live. But now we are extending our care services so that additional nursing will be available 24 hours a day. It means that residents and families have the reassurance of knowing that if nursing care is required later, Sunrise can provide it.
The new registration is also an acknowledgement of our competency and expertise in caring. We have been participating in rigorous training to ensure that all residents receive the best assistance and care possible. But the really good news…As a result of our new registration it means that residents assessed to receive nursing care will be eligible for NHS Funded Nursing Care contributions. This is an amount of £119.66 per week paid as a contribution towards your weekly fees.

Sunrise of Cardiff Win ‘Best Assisted Living Development’ Award
Sunrise of Cardiff attained the Gold Award for the ‘Best Assisted Living Development’ in The Daily Telegraph, Your New Home Awards in 2008.
At an awards ceremony held at the Globe Theatre in London, with over 200 people in attendance, Sunrise Senior Living managed to impress the Judging panel over a number of other notable care providers and attained the Gold Award.
The judges stated when presenting the award: "The main factor in this category was to find a development where the residents received extra care without limiting their sense of independence. Every Sunrise has a separate secure area devoted to the special needs of seniors who are experiencing memory loss through Alzheimer's disease or other conditions. While many projects provide comfort and security, the judges felt that Sunrise of Cardiff, with its emphasis on helping residents in need of additional support was the obvious winner."
