Sunrise of Solihull is now able to offer Nursing Care!

What does it mean for our residents?
Sunrise of Solihull will remain the same comfortable, homelike and enjoyable place to live, but now we are extending our care services so that additional nursing will be available 24 hours a day. It means that residents and families have the reassurance of knowing that if nursing care is required later, Sunrise can provide it.

The new registration is also an acknowledgment of our competency and expertise in caring. We have been participating in rigorous training to ensure that all residents receive the best assistance and care possible. But the really good news…As a result of our new registration it means that residents assessed to receive nursing care will be eligible for NHS Funded Nursing Care contributions. This is an amount of £108.70 per week paid as a contribution towards your weekly fees.

Talk to us soon about the process to get an assessment made and we'll help to make it happen.

Sunrise Resident Decorated After 65 Year Wait

A Shirley war hero has finally received his medals - after a 65 year wait. Eighty-seven-year-old Bill Smith had been decorated for his service with the RAF and Navy. But he never got the gongs, because of a metal shortage at the time. But in an emotional ceremony this week, the pensioner was presented with his defence and war medals.

Two RAF officers surprised Bill at his home at Sunrise Senior Living - reading a specially-written citation. Sandra, Bill’s granddaughter, a Royal Navy Reservist, said it had been a wonderful day.

“My granddad had mentioned several times about his medals and so I tracked down his de-mob papers and called the Ministry of Defence,” she said. “We were able to get two of them and there’s possibly a third which he is entitled to. “It was an emotional moment for the whole family.”

Bill couldn’t believe his eyes when the officers stood up and started to talk about his war-career at the home. “You seem to know more about it than I do,” said Bill, when he went to collect the award. “Thank you all so much.”
