“My background is 20 years as a Senior Manager with a large blue chip organisation within the automotive industry. I made the move into the world of care to seek a more fulfilling and purposeful role. I have been General Manager of Sunrise of Edgbaston for 2 years and have been privileged to serve wonderful residents and staff alike. I am proud to lead a wonderful team who care passionately about seniors and their wellbeing. We aim to give the highest levels of care to all our residents and ensure peace of mind for all family and friends. “I was inspired to work in care and study dementia because my Grandmother developed the disease; I studied for my dementia degree under David Sheard, Founder and Chief Executive of Dementia Care Matters. I wanted to improve the quality of care being offered to older people, to really make a difference, I always remember her saying “ If your heart isn’t in it, don’t even begin it!” Working at Sunrise is a fulfilling and rewarding role, to lead a team of carer’s who really care is one that I take real pride in. I love the interaction with residents, watching them develop new friendships and lead a full and purposeful life.”
“Since I was 5 years old and my Mum bought me a nurses outfit I have wanted to be a nurse. I have a passion for elderly care and truly believe that all seniors should be cared for with dignity. I attended a study day at Sunrise while I was studying nursing at university and always thought it would be a wonderful place to work; my wish was answered 3 years later when I was appointed Senior Wellness Nurse at Sunrise of Edgbaston.”
“After 6 years of working my way through the ranks at Sunrise of Edgbaston, I am now the Manager of our dementia care neighborhood. A qualified nurse I am also a Dignity in Dementia Champion and am as dedicated to my residents now as I was when I joined Sunrise, even more so. My aim is to maintain a service that supports people throughout all stages of their dementia journey to enjoy fulfilling lives by ensuring each and every day is happy and contented. My daily goal is to see a smile on my residents faces; I am passionate about providing people living with dementia the best quality of person centred care.”

My role is to help people through what can sometimes be a challenging & emotional process of looking for care for a loved one or occasionally even themselves. It is hugely rewarding to see when somebody does move into Sunrise how their lives are enhanced and how we bring peace of mind to their families and friends. “Working at Sunrise to support our residents to lead a full, interesting and meaningful life is a hugely satisfying and rewarding role. To enable them to enjoy activities they may not have tried for years or trigger memories which lead to meaningful discussions can be the greatest part of my job. I have worked in the care field for almost 25 years and still find working with older people a fantastic experience. Getting to know our residents as individuals, their likes and dislikes, learning about their rich and interesting lives is a wonderful privilege.”
