Meet Our Team

One of the reasons why every Sunrise home is much more than just a care home is the team of people working there. Every hour of every day, Sunrise team members are working to make sure that our residents enjoy life as fully as possible. Here are just a few of the people you’ll find at your local Sunrise care home.

Elaine Doyle, General Manager

Elaine

I am a Registered General Nurse who qualified in 1984. I have experience of working with older adults in a residential setting both in the UK and France. I progressed to the position of Home Manager in 1999 and since then have worked for several large organisations in this role, including 13 months with Sunrise of Knowle as Deputy Manager and 8 months at Sunrise of Edgbaston as the General Manager.

I am now delighted to have taken up the position of General Manager here at Solihull and am passionate about delivering the very highest levels of care to our residents. I am committed to leading a skilled, caring and compassionate team.

Jill Whetstone, Deputy Manager

Jill

I qualified as a Registered General & Sick Children's Nurse in 1988 & worked for the NHS for 16 years before moving to Solihull & becoming a Registered Manager of a domiciliary care agency. I worked within the care sector for 14 years before joining Sunrise of Solihull as Deputy Manager. I'm looking forward to being part of a friendly, supportive & caring team & delivering a high quality service to all our residents.

Rob Cockayne, Director of Community Relations

Rob

My role here is to help and support families through what can be a challenging and emotional process of looking for the best care for a loved one. I find it hugely rewarding to see when somebody does move into sunrise how their lives are enhanced and we bring peace of mind to their families. It is a pleasure to work with such a dedicated team of people who look after our resident's with such care and compassion.

I feel very passionate about the respect we should show our seniors. I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you if you or someone you know is in need of more support and care.

Jo Pickett, Assisted Living Co-ordinator

Before joining Sunrise as Assisted Living Coordinator I was Registered Manager of a Domiciliary Care Agency and have worked in the care sector for around 12 years. I am a people person who enjoys making a difference to the lives of the residents who live at Sunrise of Solihull. I am supported by a dedicated team of nurses and carers who are passionate about delivering exceptional person-centred care. Nothing is more rewarding than making a positive contribution to the daily lives of each and every one of our residents.

Lisa Eccleston, Reminiscence Co-ordinator

I am a Registered General Nurse having qualified from Birmingham City University in 2013. I spent the first two years of my nursing career working within an Acute Medical Unit and A&E. I found both of these roles challenging yet immensely rewarding. However, whilst I thoroughly enjoy the clinical side of nursing and the high pressure of A&E I found myself missing that certain something, which cannot be gained from acute medicine. Having previously worked as a care manager in Sunrise I fondly remembered the residents, staff and families. These memories along with the core principles that are promoted within Sunrise led me to re-apply to work within Sunrise Senior Living. I hope to bring both passion and enthusiasm to the Reminiscence neighbourhood. I believe in being a strong but fair leader and hope that my standards of excellent care and knowledge can be shared with all the team members. Overall my aim is to ensure that above everything, residents are getting the best care possible being delivered by the best, well equipped members of staff.

Samantha Birks, Activities and Volunteers Co-ordinator

Samantha

I started work with Sunrise at our Edgbaston community working in various roles. In 2014 I moved to Solihull as Activities and Volunteers Co-ordinator. I am a qualified florist with a love of gardens and flowers and have taken a keen interest in the beautiful gardens we enjoy here at Solihull, starting a hugely popular gardening club.

I am thoroughly enjoying getting to know the residents, their individual likes and dislikes as well as the interesting lives many of them have led.
