Our sister/sister-in-law has been at Sunrise of Edgbaston for 9 months. We are delighted with the care she receives. The staff are kind, courteous and patient with her. They understand her condition of vascular dementia and treat her accordingly. She has integrated well because of the care and friendliness she receives. We are more than satisfied with everything.

How likely would you be to recommend Sunrise of Edgbaston? Extremely Likely

It was difficult to find a suitable home from home for my cousin who had lived in a beautiful flat with her mother. After her mother's death, we searched and searched finding every place totally unsuitable. Then we were told about Sunrise Edgbaston. I had no expectations this time as we looked around but after a tour plus a long conversation with the wonderful manager and head of nursing I knew it was just right, especially as there was no smell as we entered the hallway which we had found in other homes we looked at. My cousin was hard to sway but after a visit and meeting with the manager and nurse, she signed the documents. Sunrise has been amazing the care, nursing friendliness and food have been faultless. The staff go out of their way to care and spend time listening to my cousin never in a hurry or brush her off. Every concern is shared with me by a phone call and my calls are always returned. My cousin has improved since entering the home, her demeanour is good.

How likely would you be to recommend Sunrise of Edgbaston? Extremely Likely

My mother moved to the Reminiscence Unit at Sunrise of Edgbaston on January 3rd 2017. This followed the sudden closure of the care home she was in. It is still early days but so far we are so pleased with the welcome we have all had from the staff, who are unfailingly cheerful, polite and reassuring. The Dementia Community Relations dealt with the clerical and financial side of things efficiently and everything seemed to go really smoothly. It is such a relief that all the staff on the Reminiscence Unit are trained in dementia care and they are so quiet and gentle with the residents. The unit is calm and peaceful and every effort is made to maintain the dignity of the residents. My mother is starting to settle in her new surroundings and we feel confident that she will be well cared for. Our aim for her is that she will be "contented" and we think this may be achievable at Sunrise.

Whenever I visit, I am always welcomed by the concierge who knows where my relative is. The cafe area is very good and allows us to sit and talk whilst not interrupting any activity in the lounge or disturb other residents watching TV. I have been impressed with the number of staff always moving about, they all acknowledge my relative by first name and any questions I have, had have been answered or referred to someone else who has answered them. The restaurant is always bright and well set out for dinner, putting some hotels to shame but giving the residents the feeling of being in a restaurant, not a school dinner hall. The menu is always available on the table and well set out. Staff are available to help if residents have difficulty eating. The room is very smart, modern and private. I think Sunrise Edgbaston was an excellent choice for my relative as she receives the care she needs to get throughout the day.
