Meet Our Team

One of the reasons why every Sunrise home is much more than just a care home is the team of people working there. Every hour of every day, Sunrise team members are working to make sure that our residents enjoy life as fully as possible. Here are just a few of the people you’ll find at your local Sunrise care home.

Julie Weaver, General Manager

Edgbaston - Julie Weaver I trained as a Registered General Nurse and qualified in 1985. I Have worked in the Elderly Care Sector since qualifying, initially within the NHS and then in the private sector since 1997, when I became General Manager of a 120 bed care home. Since this time, I have gained experience in various companies in a range of roles from managing operationally challenged homes to Regional Director and Lead Operations Manager, mainly in North London and the South. I am now delighted to have the opportunity to work at Sunrise of Edgbaston and look forward to meeting new colleagues.

Muss Ashraf, Deputy Manager


As a founder team member of Sunrise Senior Living of Edgbaston, I have successfully worked my way up to becoming a Deputy Manager. Throughout my 10 years of service with Sunrise I have had the opportunities to work in a variety of roles starting as a Care Assistant, then a Senior Care Assistant and due to my nursing qualification and experience as the Wellness Service Coordinator. I then progressed onto becoming the Reminiscence Coordinator. I am proud to be a part of such a prestigious organisation and take pride in working alongside Sunrise’s core values and principles of service. Our Mission to Champion the Quality of Life for all seniors remains a central point in my heart.

Pauline Starrs, Assisted Living Co-ordinator


After qualifying as a state Registered Nurse in 1979 I have spent many years working with seniors, a choice I made early on in my career. I strongly believe that everybody has a right to be treated with dignity and respect and that the care received should be the best we can deliver and be second to none.

In my role as Assisted Living Co-ordinator, I hope to lead by example as well as promote compassion and an understanding that we can all provide an excellent service and show respect for all.

Pauline Griffiths, Activities Co-ordinator


Working at Sunrise to support our residents to lead a full, interesting and meaningful life is a hugely satisfying and rewarding role. To enable them to enjoy activities they may not have tried for years, or trigger memories which lead to meaningful discussions, can be the greatest part of my job.

I have worked in the care field for almost 25 years and still find working with older people a fantastic experience. Getting to know our residents as individuals, their likes and dislikes, learning about their rich and interesting lives is a wonderful privilege.=

Justine Ellory, Director of Community Relations

I am very excited to be liaising with families regarding the best care and support for their loved ones. Finding the right care and environment for your family is an extremely challenging time and I am the first point of contact for future residents and their families enquiring about the best care options here in Edgbaston. My role is hugely rewarding when you see new residents flourish and friends and family enjoying the peace of mind that comes from knowing that our community was the right choice.

Catherine Badham, Associate Director of Community Relations

Edgbaston - Catherine Badham In my role I am privileged to get to know our local community, residents and their families whilst working alongside a professional team of dedicated people. From communicating the benefits of our unique setting and welcoming people in to explore for themselves, through to assisting a smooth and happy move in for new residents and their families. It's great to be part of an organisation that champions quality of life by enabling choice and individuality. Kate Lester, Reminiscence Co-ordinator


I started working for Sunrise in 2010 as a care assistant. Having worked my way up, through the ranks, I am now the Reminiscence Coordinator.  I am passionate about delivering high quality person centred care to our residents living with Dementia.Prior to Sunrise I completed a BSc (Hons) Human Biology at the University of Birmingham. I have completed a Dementia Mapping Course through the University of Bradford and I have just commenced a Masters in Dementia Studies. I am a Dementia Friend and I am trained to deliver the Virtual Dementia Tour for all staff. 

My daily goal it to talk to each resident and ensure that they are receiving the care and support that they deserve. Caring for elderly, vulnerable residents is a wonderful privilege and I find it hugely rewarding.
